Katya Sonina | Portrait | NYC

Katya Sonina is one multi-talented young woman.  She is an accomplished classical pianist with a Juilliard School degree to prove it.  She is also a terrific and nurturing piano teacher to many children in New York City.  As if that wasn’t enough, she is a wonderful songwriter, actress and model.  She was recently signed on with Wilhelmina Models Agency and I felt honored to work with her on a super fun photo shoot last week.  Katya truly enjoys being in front of the camera and with that beautiful face and gorgeous, sunny smile she certainly made my job very easy:).  To top things off, she is one of the kindest and genuine people I have ever met:)!!!

Katya Sonina - ~ to Alex ~

I must say that working with Alex was an absolute joy!
All he asked me was – to smile .. and then, he did his magic – pure magic of talent, vision, imagination & inspiration, yet making it so very simple and real.

Thank you – for looking at me, and seeing me not only from the outside, but most importantly – for capturing my very spirit in such a beautiful, honest way.

I trust that you are a true master of your craft. So best of luck!!, and I am happy to be a part of this wonderful artistic journey of yours!

With all my love,
Katya

P.S. and may I add, that there is not a single photograph I don’t like, which usually happens… – never..? :) )

Megan & Phil | Engagement | New York

It was awesome to meet Megan and Phil for their engagement shoot this Sunday. The guys live in Baltimore but luckily for all of us, they were coming up to NYC for a wedding and we were able to squeeze in an engagement shoot without having to worry about additional travel.  Considering they are also in process of rebuilding their new house and planning a wedding – we were very lucky to find time to do the shoot.  Thank you guys for waking up at the crack of dawn to catch the first train out and make this work!

I had a great time with these two, and hope that I wasn’t too demanding that early in the morning.  Megan is not only gorgeous and brave enough to walk on a board-walk  in heels, but also graceful enough not to get stuck while doing so:). Both Megan and Phil are architects and Megan recently started her own design firm !!!  Good Luck guys with the house, the new business and the wedding planning and Natalia and I can’t wait for your wedding in a month:).

The visual proof that I am the luckiest guy in the world :)

So I figured it is time for me to make this blog a little more personal and start sharing more about the people, ideas and even objects that are important in my life, that make my life wonderful, challenging and fun.

And now to the “luckiest guy” part:)

If someone told me slightly over 3 years ago that a year later I would be married – I would have had a hysterical fit of laughter.

Then around New Years of 2007 I met Natalia:)– It took me about 6 weeks to propose and it took her about 14 hours to accept:)

Her first reaction was: ” Ummm …. – this is not a no… but can I have a little time???  This is very sudden!!!!!”:)She called me the next  afternoon – at the office – and told me she would like to change the answer to YES !!!!:)

Eight months later, thanks to our amazing friends, who helped us with every aspect of planning and execution, we were married! Our wedding took place on September 20th, 2008, at a beautiful Vermont home of close friends of ours. The weather was perfect. The leaves that just started turning, painted the surrounding mountains in the multitude of tasty colors (and yes tasty is the best word that describes it to me:)).  I have always believed that marriage was about commitment of two people that are in love and want to spend the rest of their lives together – and not something that requires an “official” ceremony, so it was strange to realize that I, the guy who was never concerned about the actual ceremony and ritual of the wedding, truly treasure the memories of our wedding, because at the end it really was one of the most special days in my life.

So here is Natalia, my gorgeous, gorgeous wife whom I absolutely adore….

Natalia and Troy – whom she learned to love despite his drooly properties:)

Special look – reserved for me… when I get too goofy:)[she probably will kill me when she sees the photo below]

L’Artiste | Modern French Cuisine | Astoria, NY

Normally I am not much of a hunter, so it is very exciting that I recently got a chance to shoot it, and then eat it:)

There is a new and very exciting French restaurant called L’Artiste opening in Astoria, NY. The restaurant specializes in modern french cuisine that is impeccably prepared and beautifully presented. It was fun to do this shoot for the upcoming website and different promotional materials – and thoroughly delicious!
