Jen + Ron | Wedding | Cranberry Inn, NJ

A couple of weeks ago, right outside of Princeton New Jersey, Natalia and I discovered what it takes for a couple to have the weather Gods be on their side on their wedding day.  Because we all know that there were probably a total of 3 dry days this entire summer – or at least it felt like that.  But… if you fall into this criteria, you should have no problem:

  • Gorgeous Bride who is also one of the nicest people you will meet
  • A Handsome Groom who is cool, charming and knows a lot about photography (clearly, that should be on every necessary criteria list)
  • High School Sweethearts that I are still so madly in love you almost wish to be back in High School yourself in hopes that they will rub off on you somehow
  • The Best Family Members….period
  • The Coolest and most hip group of High School and College friends, who goof around, strike all sorts of funky poses, look like CIA agents with a camera and come to the rescue when an army of ants attacks your wedding dress
  • Have an incredibly loving, inspiring and humble wedding service at the Church of St. Charles Barromeo with Pastor Msgr. Gregory E. S. Malovetz
  • A White Limo and an awesome dude driving it:)
  • Did we mention cool friends and wonderful family – who all know how to make it one…super…fun…party!!!

Jen and Ron – you guys rock!!!  Really:).  We had such an incredible time and can’t thank you enough.  Hope you like the photos and that you keep in touch!  We are always up for that under water shoot or anything else creative and adventurous (we throw very subtle hints;)).

Highschool where it all started:)

So you are a bride on your wedding day and your skirt is attacked by ants. And what is your brand new husband doing while your girlfriends are wrestling with invaders???:):)

Jessie & Danny | Wedding | Public, NYC

Jessie and Danny are a really easy going couple – as a result their wedding was incredibly relaxed, stress-free, super personal and great fun!  In fact, this was the first time we have seen a venue coordinator so stunned by how easy to work with and undemanding the bride was:).  The wedding and reception took place in a really cool Soho restaurant, Public. We loved the place – it has that perfect mix of beautifully original decor and amazing food.

For Natalia and I – it was a perfect day!  Jessie and Danny, thank you for including us in your wonderful celebration.  You really were two of the easiest people to work with and your incredible families, great friends, beautiful singing, delicious food and the fact that you were invested in your photos, allowing for time, flexibility and willing to try anything we ask, made our job incredibly fulfilling and fun that day.

Aaron and Cory | Wedding | NYC

This was an exciting, unusual and very special for us wedding.  Aaron and Cory’s wedding was a part of YAY New York event sponsored and organized by Meg of the www.apracticalwedding.com to celebrate marriage equality. We were excited to volunteer to be a part of this especially since we feel strongly about the basic right to love that should be granted to everyone.  The event included wedding ceremonies and receptions for two couples with their immediate family and close friends followed by a general party in the evening that was open to anyone who wanted to come celebrate the cause, meet like minded people, get a chance to congratulate the couples and dance:).  Aaron and Cory are from Chicago, so it wonderful to see them being able to legally tie the knot here in NYC – to read their own thoughts on this day, check this out.  If  you are interested in reading and watching more on the happenings of this great event go check out Meg’s blog, A Practical Wedding, where there have been several posts all week on this fantastic cause in the marriage equality blog section

Jay + Paul | Engagement | Prospect Park, Brooklyn, NY

Remember the wedding of Emily and Shir?  Well, Jay and Paul are their friends and attended that wedding.  And Natalia and I are really happy that Jay and Paul wanted us to capture their wedding next month – because… This will be our first Same-Sex Legal Wedding!  In fact, what’s even more exciting is that Jay and Paul are planning an entire wedding extravaganza week – with 4 different events and parties spanning from New York City to Boston.  And I will get to be a part of 3 of those events:).  Needless to say, these guys are fantastic and have a large, supportive community of family and friends.

Jay is a writer of several books, with his newest one coming out in October.  He is also a scholar, an activist and is running for local office.  You should check out his website as well as his organization, Nehirim: GLBT Jewish Culture and Spirituality.  Paul also has quite an impressive list of accomplishments, has worked for MIT and Harvard and is currently the head of fundraising research at Mt. Sinai.  I would say, this is one brilliant couple:).

We did the engagement shoot in Prospect Park.  Last time I photographed a session here, there was a torrential downpour and I was grateful for the perfect weather and beautiful light this time around:).  Jay insisted that he is extremely un-photogenic and I, of course, loved proving him wrong;)!  Because really… this doesn’t look un-photogenic to me at all …

Magi + Adam | Wedding | Grand Prospect Hall | Brooklyn, NY

Adam and Magi are very calm and patient (at least they always were around me when we initially met and during our engagement shoot!) – so, seeing them both so excited, nervous and anxious before their wedding  was wonderfully adorable!:)  Adam arrived at least 30 minutes before Magi, and when we came into the office of the Grand Prospect Hall, was nervously occupying himself with the final paperwork and answering his cell phone that would ring every few minutes.  The minute Magi entered the building, although the nervous energy doubled, somehow things instantly felt calmer.  Despite the numerous last minute things that still had to be done before the ceremony, they could finally focus on the only thing that mattered the most that day – getting married!

I know that I say this a lot, but its true – we are so lucky to work with such wonderful people as these two.  They are incredibly kind, funny and warm and love life and each other.  Although in Adam’s case, it can’t be that hard.  Just look at how gorgeous Magi is, and that smile … Natalia and I couldn’t take our eyes off of that incredible smile while going through the photos!

Magi and Adam – thank you for allowing us to capture your beautiful day!  Hearing your friends talk and sing about your wonderful personalities and how much you complement each other, as well as all your travels together, your great times at Fire Island and your love for the Mets was really fun, because it gave us a sense of getting to know you guys better and that we love.  However, at the end of the day all we have to do is look through these photographs and the emotion that jumps off the screen tells us all that we need to know.  That you two are fantastic and meant for each other!!!  And that makes us smile…. almost as beautifully as Magi:)

You know the dancing floor was super fun when this happens:)
