Crystal + AJ | Engagement | Gramercy Park Hotel, NYC

A bit of a funny story:

Crystal and AJ love fashion and movies so when we were discussing the engagement shoot Crystal told me that she really, really, really wanted a photo where she is sitting on the piano and AJ is singing to her – sort of like in Chicago…

To be honest my mind came to a screeching halt then and there … Being a photographer I instantly started picturing a huge stage with a piano and movie set level of lightning equipment and thought to myself – where the heck am I going to find a setup like that???? But I always want to do my best to make my clients happy (especially when they are willing to invest extra time and effort  into coming up with ideas, costumes, etc.) and I love a challenge!  So, I told Crystal give me a few days to think about it and I would see what we can do.  Initially, I was really stuck – obviously I don’t have a theater or movie set at my disposal and  I could not think of a location where I could get to a piano with either an interesting background or enough space for the studio lights to make it happen.

Luckily for me – Natalia is a concert pianist and had a performance happening at the Gramercy Park Hotel.  A week or so before the concert I suddenly realized that there will be a piano in a gorgeous space and that we know someone who knows the owner of the hotel!:) To make a somewhat long story short, we were able to get permission to shoot at the space after the concert!:)

Crystal and AJ – I want to thank you guys for providing me with this fun challenge:)– and I definitely think that all your effort was worth it and that you guys look phenomenal!!!!
Huge thank you goes to the owners and management of the Gramercy park hotel – thank you so much for letting us use your gorgeous space!
And last but not least – a special thank you to Natalia and Liz without whom this shoot would not have happened!

Once we were done at the hotel we took a short walk around Union Square to see if I do couple of  interesting shots with a different look:)

Kiki + Ike | Engagement | Brooklyn, NYC

Last week Kiki & Ike came up to New York City from Maryland for their engagement shoot.  It was wonderful to finally meet them in person and spend some time getting know them.  Kiki & Ike are incredibly sweet, easy going and handled my demands of “making out” in public quite well – I totally think that I was justified and the results are well worth it;)!
Despite the early blooms this year, we still managed to find some beautiful spring flowers at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and I loved how Kiki’s sweater added an extra burst of color to the shots.  The guys are both from Nigeria and I am really excited to be photographing their wedding in a few months and getting to know more about Nigerian culture and traditions.  Thank you guys for making the trip and hope you enjoy a few of my favorites…

Elina + Ross | Wedding | Waterview, Monroe, CT

Our first wedding of the year and what a wedding it was!!:).  We got to hang with a wonderfully kind and gracious couple, who also happen to be fantastic models.  We met great people, enjoyed hearing and speaking our mother tongue, were priveledged enough to document a beautiful and emotional day filled with love, friendship and tradition.  Oh…. and then a live band brought the house down and everyone danced their hearts out!!!  We really couldn’t have envisioned a better way to start off our wedding season.

Elina and Ross – Thank you both so, so much for allowing us to be a part of your day!  Your wedding day was a beautiful reflection of who you two are and we are honored to have been able to capture not just the actual day, but little glimpses of the essences of you – warm, kind, generous, grateful, fun, loyal, loving and so much more…. You two certainly set the bar pretty darn high, so all our 2012 couples better step up their game;) - hehe…

Below is one of our favorite photos from the whole wedding!!

Love all the different directions and overlays in the photo below – go Natalia!:)

Elina & Ross opted for a First Look, which we LOVE!!!!  It always makes the day flow better, captures an incredible and emotional moment and gives us more time for portrait photos, while allowing the couple to enjoy some of their cocktail hour…

You guys rocked it out… just look at this great looking couple!

We love our emotional brides:)and Elina manages to look great even while crying:)

Hot bride !!

Your own dad playing violin at your wedding – priceless!!:)

Elina + Ross | Engagement | Meatpacking District, NYC

First engagement session of 2012!:)

Elina and Ross are a really down-to-earth couple with an excellent sense of humor  and were a absolute pleasure to work with.  We started the shoot in the meatpacking district and after a couple of hours as the daylight started to wane we headed over the Lincoln Center for a few shots there. I loved that the guys not only brought couple of changes of clothing but also had couple of very useful props – a cowboy hat and a cigar!:)
